Brad Sez:

Finally!
I know, right?

Well, after well over a year (hell...now that I think about it, it's been about 15 months since I decided to start a comic of my own), here it is...the first “episode” of Marginal Significance, Versus.
The idea came to me some time after I had come up with the name for the comic. I thought about how there were just...so many comics out there. Some of which were pretty crap, and weren't well known. Some of them are great, but only known by a handful of people aside from those who actually know the artist.
But then...there are some that have attained a high level of status. Their humor is timeless, their characters are iconic (internationally even) and they've gotten so big that there's a lot of money to be made off their various merchandise. These are the veterans. And when I thought about it, I thought, “Who am I...to challenge their greatness?” Of course, I was just saying this to myself jokingly. The farthest that I really want to go with this is having a few good fans, and maybe enough of a following to sell a t-shirt one day. But when I thought about it, I thought it was kinda funny, and it was no time at all before this idea came to mind.
On the left are a number of iconic characters that me and Stef are big fans of. Most are from webcomics, but we decided to add some flash animation characters too.
That's all I want to say for now, cos really if these comments are too long, you're never gonna read em', am I right?

Okay, time to tell you, if you don't already know.

-2 guys at top, the veritable KINGS of webcomicry, Gabe and Tycho of [link]
-Guy on the left with the loopy neck is famed flash artist and voice actor Egoraptor, who can be found at [link] among other places.
-Guy and girl on the right is cult sensation Vinnie Veritas and...some girl that appears in many of his flash whos name I do not know. See his great Mexicano work at the following [link]
-The two angry lookin' kitties are none other than Leo and Aeris of VG Cats fame [link]
-The white, bird-like guy in the middle is Heptig, the artist behind The Slackerz. [link]
-The guy in the red shirt is the Joel Dawson, "The Mighty". Star of what will go down in history as probably the best flash animation series ever, Bonus Stage. [link]
- The studly looking gent at the bottom is Mohammad "Hawk" Haque, artist of the long running Applegeeks. [link]
-And finally, the girl (YES, she's a girl) at the bottom right is Kate, AKA "Katharine Chandler Tiedrich XIV", amazing comic artist and creator of Awkward Zombie, [link]

So, that's who everyone is. Glad to know?

So that's the first comic, and I couldn't be any prouder of my boys.
Comments, are always appreciated. I want to hear what you all have to say and I intend to read every single one of them. So let me hear it. I'm open to anything except for mindless flamers...you guys suck.
Okay okay, I'm done talking now...seriously.
Hey Stef, you wanna say something about this?

Stef Sez:

Well, after much struggle, heartbreak, and all-around procrastination, comic number one is finally done! What'd that take, like...three months or so? That's...bad. Very bad. Someone please send some hate letters next time around to get me motivated. That oughtta do it.

Anybody else here miss those old school Nintendo systems?

In all, we hope you enjoy comic number one, and all the one's that are to come! Stay tuned for comic number two, coming to theaters...IN DUE TIME.

Any questions of sorts, bother Brad! >8D

I SERIOUSLY DON'T KNOW WHY MY HAIR COMES OUT SO DARK NOWADAYS ARGH WHAT THE HECK. Why oh why does this keep happening? Such WOE.

Heavy competition there! But a good start nonetheless, well played indeed!

@Stef: Yes! Hurray for old-school systems! I love those SNES era games, I still have my SNES in fact... but went through like 3 NES and the third is toast, but I got an FC Twin and a mobile for NES, and it looks darn goofy with the gigantic cart in it but maaan do I love it :D

@Brad: I loved the idea for this one. Starting off is always the hardest part, but I think you both did a great job! Haha, when I first started off I didn't even know there were veterans out there... I thought the site I was on was where all the webcomics ever could be found. Why yes, I hadn't used the internet much before then!

Heh heh, yeah? That makes you sound OLD! Heh, though I guess Cloven Hand is kind of an out of the way site. Wasn't Penny Arcade a fairly popular series when you were starting?
But yeah, we've got quite a roll to fill.
I've always maintained that I don't care if we don't get Penny Arcade popular, but I'd like to be popular enough to warrent selling some merch. Like a t-shirt or two, maybe some buttons, y'know?

Haha, not old, just completely ignorant :D I didn't care much about the internet before 2004, so I was only dimly aware of Penny Arcade but more aware of web series like Red vs Blue. Plus I got a direct link from a friend to DrunkDuck, and since it was a webcomic host (and one time someone did upload Penny Arcade there...)I figured most webcomics were DD webcomics! I ended up on Clovenhand because the site crashed and was down for months, a friend recommended I try and host at CH, i was waiting on DD to come back to upload CTV but gladly uploaded my UIU archives there! :D

Haha, that's the best attitude to have when it comes to these webcomics. Worrying about mega-popularity turns a lot of people into jerks. It's great to have goals and aspirations, not so good to angst over who is popular (like i see all over DD...)
I'm looking into getting a new store for my merch myself, but my biggest goal is toys! I want figurines, darn it! :happybounce:

Oh, I see. I was gonna say, you can't possibly be THAT old. And I only reference PA cos it's one of the longest running series that I know. I've never gotten into it myself, but Stef loves it.

Huh, so was CH thrown out there just because of the theme of your comics? It seems to be a horror-based comic site. Glad it worked out for you though. Seems that the community there really embraces your work, despite UIU being kinda cutesy (comparatively).

Oh yeah, I'd just be happy to get a small handful of dedicated fans. And if I don't, then I can live with that too. I've lived all my life without any semblance of fame, I think I'll be fine.
I've already got a few ideas for merch, a t-shirt or two, but I don't wanna count my chickens.
Oh no way, really? Wait, have you ever had a store before? I kinda think I remember you having stuff before.
Oooh, y'know what'd be cool is a pair of small plushies of Nando and Amy that velcro to each others' sides or something. ...s'that too sappy?

Figures alone would be great too. But would you just have the normal art style, or the more realistic style too?
Uh, I'm getting fanboyish...I disgust myself.

Ya see, i am dissapointed that you did not include Bryon "Psyguy" Beaubien, the main character from LeastICouldDo, Ctrl-Alt-Del, or even Pvponline.

To see Psyguy, check out Fireball20xl.com.

HAY.

HAYHAY.

THIS IS AWESOME I AM FAVING IT.

I guess I can be an actual fan now, huh?

WHOO I HAVE PURPOSE.

I recognise...three characters, and some of them only in passing webpages so I have no idea what it was related to. Therefore I will just sit in the sidelines drawing random fanfart because now I can haha.

And I like the idea of the sun and the moon randomly being there at the same time. Don't ask why. I just do.

LONG RANDOM POST IS LONG.

*flies out the window*
